Workshop Proposal

Use this page to propose an academic workshop, methods lab, or thematic seminar in partnership with the Journal of Socio-Technical Systems and Human Dynamics. Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis.

Eligible activities

  • Academic workshops — focused, peer-led sessions on a theme that intersects the journal's scope: socio-technical systems, human dynamics, platform governance, and adjacent fields.
  • Methods labs — hands-on training in research methods, instruments, or analytical techniques relevant to the journal's community.
  • Thematic seminars — structured discussion series, optionally developed into a special section of the journal.

What to include in a proposal

  1. Theme and rationale — the focus of the workshop and how it aligns with the journal's scope.
  2. Organisers — up to three organisers with affiliations, ORCIDs, and roles.
  3. Format and audience — expected length, mode (in-person / online / hybrid), and intended participants.
  4. Outputs — whether the workshop is intended to feed a special section or curated collection in the journal.
  5. Timeline — proposed dates and key milestones.
  6. Open-access disclosure — if a special section is planned, confirmation that articles will be published under CC BY 4.0 in line with the journal's Open Access Policy.
